Pro Evo Network - My Team
This was an add-on recently created for the ProEvoNetwork (PEN) forum. As season 8 was just over the hill, we decided to add something new and interactive for the members. The aim was to draw more attention to the member profiles and as a result give more focus on the member features on the site such as blogs and picture galleries.
My Team therefore had to be based around the existing profile script coded in
PHP. Invision Power Board has it’s own in depth script with predefined classes
and functions which required a lot of research in to the current script.
After the right research and an amount of trial and tribulation, the add-on was
built into the forums. The members can now select the team they will be using
for the season in the ‘Settings’ tab as well as entering any extra information
they wish. Once they have saved their settings, the information is uploaded to
the database and displayed on the ‘My Team’ tab.
To boost traffic, an add-on was installed to the main site‘s news articles so a
member’s name would automatically be turned in to a link directing viewers to
the member’s profile.
